Admisssion / Required Documents

All documents must be arranged in the following sequence without any binding.
Regardless of admission or not, no application documents will be returned.
A complete application must include the following:
Checklist This form will be generated automatically after completing the online application form.
Application Forms The application form can ONLY be filled in and printed online.
Two completed application forms attached with a recent photo (1”×2” in size) to each.


In case of missing important information from us, please fill in a valid contact telephone number and email, fill in a correct address for mailing notification use, as well as passport ID and birthday for confirmation use.
Certifieate A copy of passport or other equivalent verification of nationality and a copy of the R.O.C. Alien Resident Certificate for those holding one.
Highest Academic Diploma One photocopy of the applicant’s highest academic diploma verified by a Taiwan overseas representative office.  (A copy of the verified certificate shall be submitted during application process. The original verified certificate shall be submitted upon registration at the beginning of the new semester.)

•Bachelor’s program applicants: High school diploma.
•Master’s program applicants: Bachelor’s degree diploma.
•Ph.D. program applicants: Bachelor’s degree and Master’s degree diploma.


For those expecting to graduate this year and yet to obtain their diplomas, submit a copy of the student ID card showing their year of study; graduating students admitted to THU must submit their diploma, verified by Taiwan’s overseas institutes at the time of registration, or admission will be cancelled.

A notarized copy of translated certificate of highest-level diploma.(if applicable)
This is only required when the original diploma issued by the institution is neither in the language of English nor Chinese.

Official Transcripts Original official transcripts by years issued by an international education institution, in Chinese or English. It must be authenticated by a Taiwan’s overseas representative office.  (A copy of the verified certificate shall be submitted during application process. The original verified certificate shall be submitted upon registration at the beginning of the new semester.

•Bachelor’s program applicants: High school transcript by years.
•Master’s program applicants: Bachelor’s degree transcript by years.
•Ph.D. program applicants: Bachelor’s degree and Master’s degree transcript by years.
If the transcripts are from Taiwanese Universities do not need verification.

A notarized copy of transcripts (if applicable)
This is only required when the original transcripts issued by the institution is neither in the language of English nor Chinese.

Autobiography All applicants should provide an autobiography (300-500 words in Chinese or in English).
Study Plan All applicants are required to submit the study plan which is conclusive of the education background, reason for application and further planning etc.
Recommendation Letters At least two letters of recommendation are required, and they should be written by the applicant’s teacher or employer. All recommendation letters must be written in Chinese or English (The department of Japanese language and culture can be written in Japanese).
Financial Statement Validated financial statements by financial institutions, also mailed directly to the Academic Affairs of Tunghai University in a sealed envelope, indicating that sufficient funds are available to support that applicant during his/her stay in Taiwan at least about US$4,000 or more must be provided. Scholarship award winners MUST include documented proof.
Affidavit This form will be generated automatically after completing the online application form.
Academic Certificate Declaration This form will be generated automatically after completing the online application form.
Others 1.Academic thesis or relevant publications ( for Ph.D. program applicants)
2.Doctoral candidates must, in addition, provide a Chinese or English abstract of the Master thesis (or a substitute work), and an off-print.
3.Additional requirements by the intended department/institute (if applicable)
4.Additional application Materials in the applicant’s favor (Any academic distinctions or honors you have received since the 9th grade, official proofs of language or international equivalent, etc.) (if applicable)
