Academic Time
Fall Semester (1st): September to January (September 22, 2014 to January 24, 2015)

Required Documents
  1. Application Form with photo attached (NO Hand Writing!)
  2. Passport Copy
  3. Letter of recommendation written in English or in Chinese
  4. Study Plan
  5. Transcript
  6. Health Report Form
  7. Financial certification of US$3000
  8. Send passport-size photo with white background to: exchange.g@thu.edu.tw
  9. Insurance Certificate (if not available, you have to join the group insurance provided by Tunghai University)
Course restrictions
  1. The courses provided by the Department of Foreign Languages and Literature are only opened to English major excahnge students.
  2. The courses which need extra material fees provided by the Department of Hospitality are not available to exchange students.
  3. You can take courses in the Department of Architecture with their approval.
Visa
  1. For students exchange for only one semester, should apply for a Visitor Visa in order to study in Taiwan. Further information can be found athttp://www.boca.gov.tw/content.asp?CuItem=1902
  2. For students exchange for one year (two semesters), should apply for a Resident Visa. Further information can be found at http://www.boca.gov.tw/ct.asp?xItem=6139&ctNode=778&mp=2
 Insurance requirements
  1. We will request all the exchange students to provide a copy of the health insurance as a proof. If students are not be able provide the copy, we will request them to purchase the commercial group insurance prepared by Tunghai University. The commercial group insurance covers only accident medical care (such as traffic accident) and staying at emergency room over 6 hours. This insurance is not cover for cold, dentist, skin allergy and other small diseases medical expenses.
  2. Group Insurance: NT$ 545 (one semester) or NT$ 1,360 (two semesters)
Housing arrangements On-campus dormitory:
  1. Each room is shared among four students, and each student is provided with a bed, desk, chair, closet, and bookshelf. Shower rooms, toilets, and launderettes are available for use. Students can watch TV during their free time in the lounge. There is a supermarket near campus where you can purchase your groceries. (Dormitory Photos)
  2. Dorm Fee: NT$ 9,600 - 12,600 / semester (Fee only applied to the announcement of THU)
  3. If you need us purchasing the full bedding pack for you, please check box on the application form.
  4. Full bedding pack (consists of a pillow, pillow case, flat mattress and blanket): NT$1,500-1,800
  5. Once you check box on the application form for the on-campus dormitory, if you want to cancel the application after arrival, you have to pay FULL dormitory fee.

Estimated Monthly Expenses (excluding housing costs as indicated above)
  1. Meals: NT$ 7,500-10,000
  2. Transportation: NT$ 200-500 (by bus)

  5. Entertainment: NT$ 1,000-5,000
