Certificate Applications

A. Applying for Resident Visa before entering Taiwan

International students who have been admitted to a degree program will need to apply for the Resident Visa before they enter Taiwan. However, if failing to obtain the Resident Visa from your country, you can apply for the Visitor Visa to enter Taiwan and then convert  it to the  Resident Visa after enrolling at THU, or before the Visitor VISA runs out.

Required documents 1. A passport valid for at least six months.
2. On-line Application Forms
3. 
A completed application form with two 2*2 inch color photo
4. Supporting document or Admission Letter of THU
5. Specific health certificate
 (Type B)
6. Other relevant documents.
Visa Fees 1.The relative process fee for applicants with US nationality: NT$4,960 (USD 166)
2.The process fee for applicants of other nationalities: NT$2,200 (USD 74)

B. For students with a Visitor VISA (with annotation “FS and the name of school”)

1. Students entering Taiwan with a Visitor VISA (with annotation “FS and the name of school”) will have to apply for a Resident VISA soon after enrollment at THU, or before the Visitor VISA runs out.
2. To apply for a Resident Visa in Taiwan, the required documents and process are following:

4. A Student ID or Certificate Enrollment of THU.
5. Specific health certificate
 (Type B)
6. Other relevant documents.
Visa Fees 1.The relative process fee for applicants with US nationality: NT$4,960 (USD 166)
2.The process fee for applicants of other nationalities: NT$2,200 (USD 74)
3.An additional handling charge of NT$800 (USD 27) shall be required of visitor visa holders applying for a change or replacement of their visitor visas or resident visas.

C. Note

1. Whether in Taiwan or abroad, applying for residence visas, specific health certificate are required. 
2. Do not use the landing visa to enter Taiwan. If so, you will need to go out from Taiwan, apply for a new visa and then reenter Taiwan.
3. Some designated countries will have the specific procedure to apply for the visa.

4. For international students, the Alien Resident Certificate (ARC) serves as their temporary ID card
    which can prove your resident status in Taiwan.
    It is a very important document and we advise you to take good care of it and pay attention to its expiration date!
